The Terrorist - Review

The Terrorist is about a young girl who is on misssion to assassinate a leader as a human bomb. This is not the usual suicide bomber movie as the incidents of this movie relate to the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi but it stays to be non-political as no reference is made throughout the movie. It starts off with the mission directly without wasting much time. The director is not much bothered to explain about what the group is or what their moto is. It just sticks to the main plot of the movie where it shows how a suicide bomber is trained, their beliefs and their duty. The movie ends with suicide bomber changing her mind to peace with the rose petals over her hand and the screen goes blank.

All the characters whether it is Malli (Ayesha Dharker) or small boy Lotus or the suspicious old man Vasu gives away some remarkable performances. The understated cinematography by the director and veteran cinematographer Santosh Sivan takes this movie to a different level. This could be one reason why I am watching it again and again. In the end, I would have enjoyed this more with a open-climax.
